7 Ideas to Help Create Your Wedding Vision
After being in the wedding industry 15 years, these are some of the things I have seen that have helped brides at the beginning stages of their wedding day planning. Here are 7 ideas that can help you brainstorm your way to some awesome vendors and organization for your wedding day!
- Create an inspiration board: Before calling or emailing vendors, create an inspiration board. An inspiration board is a visual overall feel of your wedding day. You could do this on Pinterest or any digital platform of your choosing. Collect photos of: venues, colors, wedding dresses, tuxes, flowers, cakes, food and anything else that you are visually attracted to. Anything that inspires you about your wedding should go on your inspiration board! By creating this inspiration board, your wedding vision will start to come to life!
- Consider your priorities: Consider what is most important to you when envisioning your wedding. Do you want a formal, traditional wedding? Or a more relaxed, casual affair? Do you want a large, extravagant wedding? Or a small, intimate gathering? Thinking about your priorities can help you make decisions that are true to who you are and what you want. The next suggestion, visiting potential venues is huge. Don't miss this one!
- Visit potential venues: Visiting potential venues can help you get a better sense of the possibilities of what your wedding could look like, and in my opinion is a must! The venue is your foundation and main building block for the rest of your wedding vendors. Consider touring a variety of venues, from outdoor spaces to formal ballrooms, to get a sense of what will work best for your wedding. Some local venues to consider are:
Promise Lane Barns
Catey Heritage Farm
Honeywell Wedding Celebrations
Milestone Event Center
Celebration Gardens
34 West
- Prioritize your budget: It's important to prioritize your budget when envisioning your wedding. Determine what you can afford to spend and use this as a guide when making decisions about your wedding vendors. Pro Tip: the more guests that will attend your wedding, the larger your budget needs to be, usually.
- Meet with vendors: After getting a sense for which venue you will be choosing, most of the other vendors will fall into place. Consider meeting with photographers, florists, caterers, musicians, and other vendors to see if they will be a good fit.
- Attend bridal shows and expos: Attending bridal shows and expos can be a great way to get ideas for your wedding and meet with vendors. Many bridal shows and expos feature a variety of vendors, from photographers and florists to caterers and DJs, and can be a great way to get a sense of what is available and compare their offerings to one another.
- Take your time: Don't feel rushed to make decisions about your wedding. Take your time and be sure to consider all of your options before making any decisions.
